Amy Agbayani is our third leader in this series, whose university responsibilities, research and work in the community involve affirmative action for women and minorities, immigrant rights, native language use, educational opportunities for underrepresented groups, and Filipinos. Most recently she was appointed by President Biden to the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders Commission.

WOMEN IN RETIREMENT WITH JUDGE SANDRA SIMMS
Judge Sandra Simms was appointed to the First Circuit Court, Twelfth Division in May 1994. She retired from the bench June 1, 2004. She authored "Tales from the Bench: Essays on Life and Justice" in 2012, a second volume is in the works. She has been active in the community, has served as speaker for innumerable community organizations, served on boards, and is Adjunct Lecturer in Criminal Justice at Chaminade University. In 2019 seh was among a select group of African Americans in Hawaii to be included in "The History Makers", an oline collection of video biographies of African American leaders across a broad spectrum of disciplines.
