Ms Suzanne Puanani Vares-Lum took office as President of the East-West Center in January 2022. She is the first woman and the first Native Hawaiian chosen to lead this organization since it was founded in 1960.

Amy Agbayani is our third leader in this series, whose university responsibilities, research and work in the community involve affirmative action for women and minorities, immigrant rights, native language use, educational opportunities for underrepresented groups, and Filipinos. Most recently she was appointed by President Biden to the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders Commission.

WOMEN IN RETIREMENT WITH JUDGE SANDRA SIMMS
Judge Sandra Simms was appointed to the First Circuit Court, Twelfth Division in May 1994. She retired from the bench June 1, 2004. She authored "Tales from the Bench: Essays on Life and Justice" in 2012, a second volume is in the works. She has been active in the community, has served as speaker for innumerable community organizations, served on boards, and is Adjunct Lecturer in Criminal Justice at Chaminade University. In 2019 seh was among a select group of African Americans in Hawaii to be included in "The History Makers", an oline collection of video biographies of African American leaders across a broad spectrum of disciplines.

Change AGEnts Hawaii offered this workshop as the second in an active aging seminar series in partnership with OLLI- UHM to enhance personal wellbeing, community engagement, independence, and wisdom as we age. The workshop focused on the challenges and opportunities of women, guiding participants through a series of questions.

Do and Don'ts: Seminar on Combating Ageism as we age.
DESCRIPTION: This presentation focused on social engagement, financial stability, a senior friendly community, and mental and physical well-being. Members from Change AGEnts made presentations and guided exercises Individuals were encouraged to participate in exercises and discuss their personal experiences.
